Homage to Anne de Hoop
Anne de Hoop
For my father my father I recently built a website, not only in memory, but mostly to finally give his ceramic designs a name.
My father, Anne de Hoop (1930-2011), was trained as a virtual merchandiser (window dresser) and ran a store in luxury home furnishings in Stadskanaal for many years. Around age 60, he decided to devote himself entirely to designing ceramics, with a predilection for vases. His designs arose from carefully constructed cardboard models and were produced by well-known factories such as Royal Goedewaagen, Flora Keramiek and Velsen Keramiek.
Many of those designs were produced in series, but his name was rarely included, he was too modest for that.
Now, years later, I felt it was important to photograph his work, to document it, and to reconnect his name to the designs he left behind. Hence this website.
